This long, strange, injury-riddled season is FINALLY over

Glass Half Empty / Afternoon Cloud: This was a waste of a season in so many ways. Beltre had another year of his All-Star career wasted. Holland wasted a year injuring his knee. Every move that JD made seemingly blew up in their faces (see Prince for Kins trade as exhibit "A"). Profar was injured and we don't know what he's really got. There were of course the injuries. And Wash is gone.

Glass Half Full / Silver Lining: There's always next year. And next year cannot be as bad as this year. It cannot. Right?

Thoughts / Observations / Sidenotes: A lot of young, minor league players got a fair amount of playing time this year. Hopefully that will pay dividends next year.

I will be very interested to see if Wash turns up managing another team next year or on another staff as an assistant. I hope we get more of the full story regarding his resignation.

And again there is always next season and with the way the club ended the season maybe there are actually some reasons to look forward to it.

Rangers have won 10 out of last 11!?!?!?

Glass Half Empty / Afternoon Cloud: Again, too little way too late.

Glass Half Full / Silver Lining: Maybe just maybe this is a preview of next season. It's not like they have been beating bad teams. Again, for the most part the teams the Rangers have been beating have been playing for playoff position or to make the playoffs.

Thoughts / Observations / Sidenotes: Given his extended job interview over this past month and how the team has performed since he has been at the helm interim manager Bogar may have just won himself the job for next year.

Rangers won a season high 7th in a row

Is it any coincidence that shortly after Wash resigned the Rangers go on a season high 7 game winning steak versus teams with something to play for?

Is it as easy as the following equation?

No Wash = No Drama = Winning

Rangers win their 6th straight, sweep A's

Glass Half Empty / Afternoon Cloud: 6 games is the longest winning streak of the 2014 season. It's mid September. Again, too little way too late.

Glass Half Full / Silver Lining: The Rangers might have contributed to the A's late season collapse this season by sweeping them. If the A's miss the playoffs then they will undoubtedly look back at getting swept by the lowly last place Rangers and cringe.

Thoughts / Observations / Sidenotes: Wash's press conference earlier today was bizarre. Just bizarre.

4 game winning streak going into tonight's game is the second longest of the season

Glass Half Empty / Afternoon Cloud: the 4 game winning streak going into tonight's game versus the A's is the second longest of the season. Don't tell me the A's don't have anything to play for (Wild Card).  Way to try to play spoiler and still show effort on the field by your Rangers.

Glass Half Full / Silver Lining: the 4 game winning streak going into tonight's game is the second longest of the season. Sad. WAY too little WAY too late.

Thoughts / Observations / Sidenotes: I have not been watching a lot of Rangers' baseball. But I still want the real scoop regarding why Wash resigned. Where are the hard hitting sports beat writers getting the dirt on this story??? What kind of hurricane of questions would rain down on the Cowboys if Garrett resigned for "personal reasons" with 1 game left in a regular season in which the Cowboys had a losing record???

90 losses and counting...

Glass Half Empty / Afternoon Cloud: Including tonight's game there are 18 games left.

Glass Half Full / Silver Lining: Including tonight's game there are 18 games left.

Thoughts / Observations / Sidenotes: Went to the ballgame last night and saw this, not all evidence of Wash's tenure has been removed from the ballpark:

89 losses and counting, 19 games left

Glass Half Empty / Afternoon Cloud: It's hard to believe that a season that started with legitimate playoff hopes for your Rangers has turned into the chore of watching these last games to see if it will be a 100 loss season.

Glass Half Full / Silver Lining: Nothing here.

Thoughts / Observations / Sidenotes: Just like Greenberg being ousted from the ownership group and then Nolan being put out to pasture (apparently early since he's now working for the 'Stros) it appears as if we will never get the full, unabridged complete story regarding what precipitated Wash's resignation with less than a month to go in the regular season. It just looks, sounds and/or smells bad. After all the bad who is left standing? John Daniels. I'm not saying anything, just pointing it out.

Losing Streak Reaches 6 Games

Glass Half Empty / Afternoon Cloud:  Have to win 10 of last 22 Games to Avoid 100 Losses

Glass Half Full / Silver Lining: Need only 10 wins in last 22 Games to Avoid 100 Losses

Thoughts / Observations / Sidenotes: 61 - the other number of note.  The MLB Record for Players Used in a Season.  Can someone please make certain that whoever is supposed to prevent injuries is not involved in this team next year?  PLEASE!!!

Glass Half Empty / Afternoon Cloud: Another Loss.  Another Loss.  Another Loss and now a very pathetic offense has taken root.  We need 10 more wins in 24 games left to avoid the dreaded 100 losses.

Glass Half Full / Silver Lining: Good outing by Doogie in his first game back after "injuring himself falling down the stairs while tripping on his dog" - yeah, let's go with that.

Thoughts / Observations / Sidenotes: We have officially broken a record in the 100+ year history of MLB as The Rangers used their 60th player thus far this year - owning the record now alone.  Believe 7 different first basemen alone.  Unbelievable.
